Everyday and each time you open your email account, maybe you always get undesired messages, usually advertorial messages. Obviously, this disturbing us and takes our time to remove them. In this article I will explain how to reduce the spam or avoid them. First of all, if we want to avoid the spam, we should know how the spammers work.
How can they find our email address? And how can they send millions email to everybody? The spammers develop software to find our email address through the search engine like google, yahoo, altavista and many more. Using the search engine, they can choose the users target by using their countries, their companies and other possibilities. The software run all the time and collect the email address until the specified target. The collected email address are stored in the database and separated to the certain categories. The categories can be defined by the user and the software will put it as keywords for searching the emails address on the search engine search input.
Therefore, we can avoid the spams by:
- Never publish or remove our email address from any home pages.
- If it is not possible to remove email address from the home pages, you can rename the email address, for instance from myname@example.com to myname [at] example.com or to myname at example dot com.
- The other possibility is change our name from text to an image.
- If you have a website and want to enable your visitor to contact you, you can use a contact form that user can fill the form and contact you without knowing your email address.
- Please be careful that spam also can send a random message to your contact and hope that you will reply them. Therefore for auto notification, use the dummy email address l or email address that is not your main email address. You can use noreply@example.com for example.
- Make a filter to your email account or email cliet software and filter some word that can be consider as a spam.
